Sunny vs Windy

As we head towards the end of another British winter; we all know which we prefer, it's just no contest!! But, did you know that it's not just a weather related question, it also applies to hairdryers?  That's right, there are two types of hairdryer and you should really know which one you are using and to think about why?

Windy Dryers:

As the name suggests, these dryers blast out air and blow water molecules off the hair.  Imagine it's raining on your car windscreen and a gust of wind comes along.  It blows the water molecules clean off the screen and this is essentially how a windy dryer operates.

Sunny Dryers:

These use gentle, yet strong heat to penetrate deep into the hair shaft.  Back in the car, if the sun shines after a rain shower, on the windscreen you can actually see the water molecules reducing in size until they disappear.  The sunny dryers evenly distribute heat from the inside out, meaning less damage and healthier hair.

The Alter Ego is a sunny hairdryer.  Its 'far infrared' technology achieves quicker results than conventional heaters as it used HW2 technology to emit negative ions which evaporates excess water off more quickly.  The remaining moisture is broken down and then absorbed and locked into the individual hair strands.  This deeper heating means hair can be styled more quickly and the results are healthier and last much longer.

Static electricity is also eliminated using this far infrared styling because the negative ions manage to smooth and seal the hair's scale like outer structure, the cuticle.  With it being sealed and smooth, the cuticle layer protects the hair shaft from chemicals, the elements and daily abuse.  It also helps to reflect light more brilliantly, creates less frizz, fewer tangles and it polishes any style to a silky-smooth, jewel like shine.

It combines the precious gemstone, Tourmaline - an electrically charged mineral, considered one of nature's most potent emitters of negative ions and far infrared heat - with the 4000 year old mineral rich red earth of the mountainous forests of Korea.  Together they harness the power of far infrared rays and anions and the double-sided honeycomb shaped HW2 molecules.  The result is a fantastic dryer that actively removes toxins and static from each hair while reducing styling time, retaining moisture and cushioning the hair from direct and damaging heat.  HW2 is the best of nature and the ultimate in technology to give amazing healthy, sleek and shiny hair.

Robert Kirby of Sanrizz Salons London styles Take Me Out's host Zoe Hardman using Twisted Ego

The Marcel Wave hairdo is proving to be the 'do' of the moment!

Championed by Keira Knightley, Kate Bosworth, Vanessa Hudgens and now Take me Out The Gossip's Zoe Hardman, it's a style that oozes glamour and sophistication.

It's all thanks to the success of the 1920's-style flick The Artist, plus massive hype over the Great Gatsby remake.  The 1920's are huge news this 2012!

Take Me Out's Zoe Hardman has some of the best locks in the business and with the help of the wonderful Robert Kirby at the Sanrizz Salon, London they achieved this look using our very own Twisted Ego!

STEP ONE:

This style works best on clean hair, use hydrating products if possible.

STEP TWO:

Work waves through front section of the hair using Twisted Ego.  Work from the mid roots to the ends, hold for two seconds and then release.

STEP THREE:

Pull the hair like you're making a ponytail then divide the ponytail into sections, wrapping hair around your fingers, looping and pinning into place with a grip.

STEP FOUR:

Break your fringe into two sections, pin the back half up then loosely pin the second wave.  The look should be relatively messed up.
